I specialize in Hatha and Yin yoga. Hatha is a sanskrit word meaning the union of the sun and moon as it is a balanced practice based on alignment of not only the physical body, but also of the mind and spirit. Though yoga is a physical practice, and is used by many as part of their overall physical well-being, yoga is actually a moving meditation that allows us to be in the present by calming our minds through breath, and surrendering to the moment through challenging poses so that we can, much like coaching, create the space within to discover our identify and values, and create powerful futures for ourselves.
Yin is an introspective yoga practice that’s slower, softer, and calmer than other styles of yoga such as hatha, which can be more dynamic and heat generating. Yin focuses on stillness and patience through mainly floor postures that are held for longer periods of time. The longer held postures allow students to surrender even more to the moment and go inwards even deeper to discover the physiological, mental, and emotional benefits of the practice.
